Gateway Bank is seeking a Credit Analyst to join our team. This person will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting credit information for existing and prospective customers to assess credit quality and to minimize risk on commercial loans.

Note: This is an on-site position. To be considered, you must be in the Phoenix metro area or willing to relocate.
Duties and responsibilities:
Analyze historical financial statements, including year-end and interim business statements, tax returns, and guarantor personal financial statements.
Complete spreads of financial statements and tax returns, resulting in key ratio determination for cash flow coverage and collateral coverage.
Evaluate repayment ability (including both historical and projected cash flow, along with the adequacy of loan structures), and assess collateral valuation and coverage.
Identify risks related to borrower operations by understanding the history of the business, ownership, type of business entity, and the borrower’s industry/economic risks.
Prepare the Loan Memorandum (credit write-up) with the assistance of the Lender for new and existing loans, to be presented to the Chief Credit Officer and Loan Committee. Loan Memorandum will include a financial analysis, summary of credit risks, identification of loan policy exceptions, proposed loan structure, and assessment of the loan rating.
Complete annual credit review on term loans over $500,000 per loan policy, utilizing the Annual Review template provided by Credit Administration.
Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on the loan portfolio, including assisting with preparing reports or calculations as requested by the Chief Credit Officer.
Actively participate in discussions with Credit Officers and Lenders, and attend staff meetings as necessary, including training and compliance meetings.
Perform other duties as requested and needed, such as assisting Lenders with preparing quarterly problem loan reports and collateral valuation, including internal and external appraisal review and special projects.
Qualifications:
At least 2-3 years of experience underwriting commercial loans
Strong background in credit analysis, commercial banking, and financial statement analysis
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Understanding of credit risk and loan documentation
