Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Mortgage Closer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the mortgage closing process, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and compliant with industry regulations. This position requires a strong understanding of loan processing, underwriting, and financial services to facilitate smooth transactions for our clients.
Responsibilities
Review and verify loan documents for accuracy and compliance with Fair Housing regulations and TILA guidelines.
Coordinate with loan officers, underwriters, and escrow agents to ensure timely closing of mortgage loans.
Effectively communicate loan status and outstanding requirements with Loan Officer, Originator, Customer, and/or Supervisor as necessary.
Prepare HMDA after each closing to be uploaded to compliance monthly.
Prepare closing disclosures and other necessary documentation for borrowers.
Communicate effectively with clients to explain closing processes and answer any questions they may have.
Prepare loans for submission when all required exhibits are received
Ensure that all funds are properly disbursed and that the transaction is completed in accordance with company policies.
Confirm loan compliance with all state and federal regulations and policies, as well as investor/mortgage lending product and program guidelines.
Maintain organized records of all closed loans for compliance and auditing purposes.
Stay updated on changes in mortgage servicing regulations and industry best practices.
Experience
Proven experience in loan processing or mortgage closing is preferred.
Familiarity with Fair Housing regulations, TILA, and other relevant compliance standards.
Background in banking or financial services is advantageous.
Knowledge of escrow processes and procedures is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are essential.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks effectively.
Skills
Basic skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; and word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Exceptional time-management skills and ability to prioritize work.
Familiarity with mortgage software such as Encompass, TurnKey, LendingPad, Caylx, etc.
