Open Position: Part-Time Staff Accountant

The Expectations of the Position 

The Staff Accountant is expected to work well in the current Boomerang environment. Generally, this includes detail-oriented work, willingness to work outside traditional roles, adaptability to a new way of learning, open communication with peers and managers, and all other aspects of working well with others in a small team.

Specifically, the Staff Accountant will have the following responsibilities:

- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable and ensure timely collection of payments

- Work directly with vendors and customers to resolve inquiries and discrepancies

- Perform account reconciliations

- Categorize Bank and Credit Card Transactions

- Process payroll

- Assist with preparation of tax returns; prepare payroll tax forms; prepare and distribute 1099 forms
- Prepare budgets and forecasts
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement

Additional Details:

The compensation for this position depends on experience.  The estimated range is $25.00 - $35.00 per hour, and the hours are anticipated to average 20 hours per week.

Experience level: 3 years or more

License/Certification: CPA (Preferred)

Work Location: Remote with occasional in-person meetings in Chicago and Evanston, IL

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree (Degree in in Accounting or Finance preferred, CPA certification or current progress toward certification preferred)
- Proven experience in bookkeeping and accounting

- Strong financial acumen and understanding of corporate finance principles
- Proficiency in using accounting software including Quickbooks Online
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

- Familiarity with both PC and Mac products

- Clear verbal and written communication skills
