This summer, banks across Virginia will participate in the VBA Internship Program. Participating interns will have a unique opportunity to network with banking professional from across the state as well as interns from other banks. Students that complete a set of requirements will be eligible to receive the VBA Certificate of Completion at the end of the summer. Features for the interns include:
- June 2, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm: Intern Orientation – a one day training and introduction to the summer program hosted by the VBA. Program includes:
- Industry Introduction
- Program Overview
- Careers in Banking Presentation from Members of the VBA Emerging Bank Leaders
- July 7, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm: Mid-Summer Meet Up - one-day, in-person event hosted by the VBA. Program includes:
- Engagement with the VBA EBL Steering Committee members
- Capstone project research discussion
- Resume workshop, interview skills and HR best practices presentation

- Additional Learning, Networking & Social Opportunities
- Zoom sessions throughout the summer to connect with other interns and hear from industry speakers.
- This program will include collaboration with our Emerging Bank Leaders (EBL) group for networking and learning opportunities. The EBL connects Virginia bankers to engage them in the future of the banking industry.
- Opportunity to attend classes during the 2021 session of the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management in late July 2022.
- Interns will have access to the Realworld Playbook, an online, interactive financial education platform that covers a variety of relevant topics including:
- Personal finance
- Health care
- Employer paperwork
- Student loans
- Signing a lease
- Taxes
- International students
