CBI Bank & Trust is seeking a Senior Compliance Officer. The Senior Compliance Officer is responsible for developing, implementing and administering the Bank's compliance management program in collaboration with the CBI Bank & Trust Chief Risk Officer. In this role, you hold various titles and perform associated duties, including Community Reinvestment Act Officer and Privacy Officer. The Senior Compliance Officer may be asked to act as a backup to, and provides support to, the Bank’s Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Officer.
Reviews current and proposed regulations in order to maintain a current and in-depth knowledge and understanding of the regulatory environment and its impact on the financial industry and the Bank.
Advises management on regulatory changes and assists in implementing the required changes to existing Bank policies and procedures.
Renders professional opinions and clarifications on current and proposed regulations when requested by Bank management.
Assists general counsel on matters involving litigation which relate to the Bank’s compliance with laws and regulations.
Performs periodic audits to ensure regulatory compliance.
Serves as an active member of various committees, providing guidance and expertise related to regulatory compliance matters. May act as chairperson of one or more of these committees.
Provides administrative support to management related to examinations and audits conducted by third parties.
Assists with or consults on reports required by state and federal regulations.
Issues reports to, and conducts training of, the Bank’s board of directors as required by regulations or Bank policy.
Issues reports to Bank management that detail the results of audits and recommended corrective action.
Maintains a sufficient understanding of the requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act and related regulations and regulatory guidance; may provide back up to the BSA Officer if needed.
Maintains advanced knowledge and awareness of financial industry status and trends that affect his or her area of responsibility.
Completes administrative tasks correctly and on time, supports the Bank’s goals and values, and benefits the bank through outside activities.

Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in finance/accounting; or three or more years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of an in-depth background in accounting, management and supervisory skills. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be applicable to the financial industry.
Knowledge of banking regulations is preferred.
Work experience in regulatory agency examining and accounting would be given preference.
Strong math skills; calculate interest, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, speak clearly to customers, other employees, and the Board of Directors.
Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations and to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
Effective organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work with no supervision while performing duties.
Current driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
Lending compliance experience or lending background preferred
Size of institution $500 million to $500 billion
CRA experience in an intermediate-small bank; open to large bank experience for future outcomes as bank continues to grow
If starting out with less compliance experience, having an understanding of lending would be very important
3-5 years minimum experience with preference above 5 years
