We're looking for a talented Retail Credit Underwriter & Processor to join our team. We operate in various locations across Virginia and North Carolina, and this position can be based in any community that we serve.
Serves as Primary Retail Credit Underwriter/Processor for Retail Credit Department. Primary responsibility will be underwriting retail loan requests for credit and providing support to Retail Lenders in preparing loan packages for proper documentation and accuracy. The Retail Credit Underwriter/Processor will need to become proficient on the DecisionPro Software System which is the primary tool for the centralized underwriting/processing function of the retail credit department.
Responsible for underwriting of retail loan requests in a very timely manner. This requires an ability to communicate well with the loan officer as well as an ability to prioritize job responsibilities in order to give prompt responses to the loan officer.
Underwriter/Processor is responsible for matching current bank policy and guidelines with loan requests and approving/denying the request with proper documentation.
Responsible for verification of lender input into DecisionPro System (i.e. income, employment, etc.)
Follow-up on suspended files for required information (paystubs, tax returns, mortgage verification, etc.)
Decision-Pro data input when changes are made to loan request information
Provides outstanding customer service to Retail Lenders
Makes direct inquiry and follow up with attorneys, insurance providers, appraisers and others to perfect loan and collateral documentation
Insures data quality and integrity of retail loan applications input by retail lenders.
Processes denied loans and verifies accuracy of information to meet compliance requirements
Work with lender to verify that all information necessary for loan to be properly documented is received prior to loan closing
Work closely with lender and loan documentation area to coordinate loan closing.
Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
Cooperates with, participates in and supports the adherence to all internal policies, practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Maintains a thorough knowledge of all American National Bank products, services, procedures, policies and appropriate regulatory issues relating to daily job functions including but not limited to: Bank Secrecy Act; Privacy; Fair Lending; Regulation E; Military Lending Act; RESPA, etc.
Normal office working environment
Must be able to drive and possess a current driver's license.

Retail Loan Experience primarily knowledge of lending regulations and loan documentation
Knowledge of LaserPro Software System
Excellent interpersonal skills essential.
Deals effectively with varying workload requirements sets priorities and manages time wisely.
Must be well organized and detail oriented with ability to multi-task.
Good computer skills required; proficient in Microsoft Office products.
Uses sound judgement and decision making skills.
Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Must possess passion for excellent customer service.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma
Bachelor Degree in Finance, Business or related field preferred
3-5 years retail lending experience preferred
