This position is responsible for originating, processing and underwriting residential mortgage loans, while communicating effectively with bankers, clients, realtors and vendors through all phases of the loan origination process. Independent judgment is required in order to execute responsibilities. The incumbent provides the highest quality of service to every customer.
Partner with referring Bankers to develop new residential mortgage relationships
Provide consultative advice regarding mortgage options, sharing the strengths and/or weaknesses of each in order for the applicant to identify the path or product that will best satisfy their objectives
Prepare required disclosures and deliver within prescribed timeframes
Analyze and document the applicant’s income and assets, in accordance with Ability to Repay and Qualified Mortgage rules, and according to Fannie Mae, Federal Home Loan Bank and/or Bank policy
Order and review credit reports, title commitments, appraisals, flood zone determinations and mortgage insurance
Maintain appropriate knowledge and fulfill training as required under the SAFE Act/NMLSR
Provide superior service when interacting with clients, vendors and internal colleagues
Comply with all banking regulations and our own Bank policies and objectives
College degree or equivalent years of experience in related industry
Minimum of 5 years dedicated residential mortgage loan experience, including but not limited to focused underwriting and/or processing experience
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
Computer proficiency and data entry experience, with a working knowledge of general office software applications; working knowledge of Collateral Underwriter and Encompass Loan Origination Software is highly desirable
Proven verbal and written communication skills, exhibiting a high degree of professionalism
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with strong emphasis placed on responsiveness
