The Commercial Underwriter will be responsible for supporting loan officers in the credit analysis and underwriting of commercial loan packages. The Commercial Underwriter will perform assigned duties under the general supervision of the City Executive.
Basic understanding of accounting principles, loan operations and financial analysis
Degree in Business, Accounting, Economics, Finance or equivalent
Complete knowledge of lending practices, guidelines, procedures and standards
Knowledge of documentation requirements
Strong knowledge of State, Federal and Bank compliance guidelines
Knowledge of the Bank’s products and services
Up to three years’ experience within a financial institution underwriting both operating companies and commercial real estate transactions
Experience preparing credit approval packages, annual reviews, renewals of complex credits, credit and non-credit proposals, coordination of loan closings and non-credit account set ups
Thorough knowledge of appraisal techniques and terminology
Experience creating and analyzing financial spreads including cash flow, trends, operating working capital, turnover ratios, tangible net worth
Well-developed interpersonal skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Proven ability to prioritize assigned work and meet deadlines
Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel programs
Physical Demands/Work Environment: Vision, hearing, and speech and manual dexterity are required. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled.

The ability to work under stressful conditions is essential. Must be able to meet deadlines and work within specific time constraints
Coordinate the cash flow analysis of the commercial loan applicants tax returns & financial statements with the bank’s credit analyst
Preparing, reviewing and analyzing the creditworthiness of all commercial loan originations and renewals by spreading company and personal financial statements into Bank’s software.
Preparing written Credit Memorandums for presentation and approval.
Evaluating financial statements, historical trends, projections, management performance, industry, cash flow, capital structure and collateral analysis.
Ordering, reviewing and analyzing reports (credit, environmental, appraisal, and property evaluations).
Performing various departmental functions, including loan covenant monitoring, risk rating, stress testing and audit preparation in regards to the bank’s safety and soundness examinations
Adheres specifically to all corporate policies and procedures. Also adheres to Federal and State regulations and laws including the Bank Secrecy Act.
