Plans, directs and administers the work needed to incorporate existing and improved business requirements in the configuration of software applications that impact accounting and/or finance processes, systems, and reporting. Possesses the ability to troubleshoot and recommend alternatives to resolve conflicts between business requirements and standard system functionality. Manages the Accounting Division’s participation in complex enterprise-wide system implementations. Contributes expertise to cross-functional teams of business and technology subject matter experts to enhance data and process coordination between and among business units and software modules. Performs data analysis in support of accounting/finance operations and projects. May assume the role of Accounting Section Manager when necessary.
Minimum Education, Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; • Severn (7) years of progressively responsible experience in the subject field.
• Administrative office position that may require extended work hours; • Completion of the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission Financial Disclosure statement within 30 days of employment and annually thereafter; • Experience with GASB and FASB pronouncements and their application, preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Knowledge of technology (e.g., relational databases and web-based tools); • Implementation experience with various systems including billing, fixed assets, inventory and asset management; • Experience in the water and wastewater industry.
