Solicit, originate and service commercial credit relationships
Grow the number of commercial credit bank customers for the various markets represented by the Bank. Types of credits are to include SBA, small commercial, and agricultural.
Conduct sales calls. Identify, contact, and visit potential or existing commercial bank customers. Assist the Chief Lending Officer with marketing strategy. Stay informed about and encourage commercial customers to consider other bank services.
Serve as a Loan Officer to increase the number of profitable commercial loans.
Serve on the Internal Loan Committee and recommend credit decisions.
Understand and adhere to all Loan Policies and Procedures.
Interview applicants, request and review business records such as profit/loss statements, tax returns, lien search, financial statements, projected expenses, credit reports, and sales growth to evaluate credit worthiness of a business. May suggest resources or improved methods to help their business succeed.
Service existing commercial loans by insuring accuracy of loan file documents, minimizing loan delinquencies, and assisting in repossessing collateral assets when loans are not repaid.
Maintain positive relationships with area real estate professionals.
Assist the Chief Lending Officer in planning annual and long term goals for the Credit Department. Report goal achievement or commercial lending overall. Keep the Chief Lending Officer informed regarding trends, opportunities, or potential problems. Suggest possible improvements in lending policies, approval limits, ways to recognize problem loans, collection methods, or other bank policies.
Create, check, explain, share, and/or read reports relevant to the Credit Dept., such as bank income, credit Income, loan volumes, past due list, loan maturing, construction progress, or Officer Calling.
Participate in regular credit, loan committee, and board of directors meetings. Attend and participate in meetings, committees, or training with other bank employees.
Assist or serve as back-up to the Chief Lending Officer.
Represent the Bank in community civic groups, charities, public relations events, and service projects.
May be scheduled on Saturdays or other days as the “Bank Officer on Duty”. When this occurs, ultimately responsible for the efficiency, accuracy, and security of all bank operations on the premises.
Must comply with the requirements of the SAFE Act.

High school or GED completion required
Bachelor’s degree required in accounting, communication, business, finance, marketing, or related field
Advanced degree in finance or business preferred
State or national lending school certification preferred
SBA, small commercial & agriculture lending experience required
5 years commercial lending experience required with underwriting and relatively complex loans
8 years financial organization experience required
More years of lending or banking experience preferred
Credit workout experience is preferred
Experience managing a department or functional budget preferred
Supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Courage to enforce policies consistently and provide candid feedback
Familiarity with income tax statements from individuals or businesses
Knowledge of business profit and loss statements and accounts receivable procedures
Knowledge of government regulations related to making and collection of loans
Knowledge of various required documents related to loan applications and loan processing
Knowledge of regulatory, financial, or business organizations related to loans and their roles
